ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Conservative radio host Dave Stieren has been hired by the governor to work in the administration’s communications team.

"Strong communication efforts are critical to our goal of working with the residents of Alaska to build a robust future for our state,” said Gov. Michael Dunleavy in a prepared statement. “To do that, we need communications that easily and accurately flow both ways."

Stieren currently has an afternoon show on KFQD, an Anchorage-based talk radio station. He announced to listeners Wednesday afternoon that his last day at KFQD will be on Oct. 18.

According to the governor's office, Stieren will be hired as a community relations liaison and will be paid $135,000 per year.

"Mr. Stieren will serve as the bridge between Alaskans and this administration," the governor said. "He will be an effective combination of communication and outreach.”

Stieren, who is active on Twitter, has an account that is not publicly searchable as of Wednesday afternoon.
