ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Update
The Anchorage Police Department has identified the victim in a deadly crash near International and Northwood.
APD says 66-year-old Deborah S. Sherfick, the driver of a Chevy, died.
Police say the driver of the Acura is expected to survive his injuries. A charging decision will be made after toxicology results have been received.
Police are still asking for the public's help with this investigation. Anyone who witnessed the driving behavior of the Acura's operator on August 15th, from 3:30 - 3:45 PM, between the Steven's International Airport and the scene of the crash, is asked to call Investigator Dykstra at 907-786-8748. We are interested in both eye-witness accounts and dashcam footage.
Anchorage Police Department says that an accident caused them to closed the eastbound lanes of Northwood Drive at W International Airport Road and eastbound lanes of International Airport Road at Jewel Lake Road.
APD says that they got a call at 3:42 p.m. The initial investigation indicated that a black Accura heading eastward on International and being driven at a "high rate of speed" collided with a blue Chevy making a left hand turn to get onto southbound Northwood Drive.
The Acura T-boned the Chevy, which in turn was pushed into a Toyota Tundra.
According to APD, none of the vehicles had passengers, only drivers. The driver of the Chevy was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Acura was extricated from his vehicle and taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
The cause of the crash -- including whether drugs and alcohol were involved -- is still under investigation.
