Kenai Peninsula school activities are back on!

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Kenai Peninsula School District removed all outdoor activity restrictions after two weeks of canceled activities.

The district also resumed all travel between Sterling and Cooper Landing on the Sterling highway beginning on Sept. 3 as well as the opening of the Cooper Landing School.

The lifting of restrictions comes after the team managing the Swan Lake Fire reduced alert levels in Cooper Landing and Sterling.

They are still warning drivers and residents that the fire is not yet controlled. They say another few inches of rain will be required before the fire can be considered controlled.

Managers are warning drivers that fire-weakened trees are a particular concern and they are advising drivers to drive with headlights on at all times.
