ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - It's an annual event you can almost set your clocks, and taste buds to, is upon us. The arrival of Girl Scout cookies.
Pallets full of hundreds of thousands of cookies were unloaded for dispersal in West Anchorage this week.
"Girls will be out in force," said CEO of Alaskan Girl Scouts Leslie Ridle. "They've sold them already to pre-sales and they'll be out in force all over the malls and stores. All across the state this weekend and the next couple of weeks."
Ridle says that Girl Scouts learn money management, planning, and confidence selling the cookies.
What cookie do Alaskans prefer? Organizers say there are a few front runners that sell the best.
"The favorite in Alaska are Samoas. Nationally the favorite are thin mints. But Alaskans like their Samoas," Ridle said.
