ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Lower Kuskokwim School District says it's investigating an “unsubstantiated report” of a possible school shooting in a Bethel school this week.
In an Oct. 7 Facebook post, LKSD said during the initial investigation no identifying information was found, and there is no credible evidence to suggest a school shooting is planned.
In following Facebook posts the district said it started to put safety precautions in place like random backpack searches and using metal detectors.
LKSD said Bethel Police were on campus all day Tuesday. The district also advised students no to bring backpacks to school as they will be subject to random searchers.
According to KYUK, a student found a note with the alleged plans in a school bathroom. The student reported the contents of the note to school officials but had thrown the note away, and it has yet to be recovered.
