ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - A 27-year-old died Sunday after falling into the water outside of Golovin while water-skipping on his snowmachine.
According to an Alaska State Trooper Dispatch, on May 5, Travis Fagerstrom of Golovin had been skipping a 30-foot lead in the ice with his friends, when he fell into the water. His friends went to get help, and searchers responded to the area by boat.
On May 6, searchers located Fagerstrom’s body using drag hooks in the river. His family was present.
Golovin is a city on the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska, east of Nome.
