Man jumps out window after shooting at Spenard Hotel

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Anchorage Police are investigating a shooting at a Spenard hotel. Police were called to the Barratt Inn just before 10:00 Wednesday morning. A disturbance inside a second-floor room allegedly resulted in a man being shot once in the lower body. The man jumped out the window, and police found him outside.

The man’s wound is not life-threatening.

Police say one person has been taken to APD for questioning, and they don’t believe there to be a further public safety risk.

Anyone with information about the incident who has not yet talked to police is asked to call police dispatch at 311.

During the response, police say they also arrested a man with an outstanding felony warrant for larceny. Joel Schmidt, 36, was arrested and taken to the Anchorage Jail.
