Man wanted for back-to-back attempted sexual assaults on Chester Creek Trail

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - After similar reported incidents of attempted sexual assault on both Tuesday and Wednesday on the Chester Creek Trail near Valley of the Moon Park, the Anchorage Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a single suspect.

Both incidents involved an adult male suspect on the trail system spotting a female target, turning and running up behind her. In both cases, the suspect grabbed the women and tried to pull off their clothes before fleeing on foot.

After investigations of both incidents, which happened between 7 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., the police announced that they think both attempted assaults were committed by the same person.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years old, brown hair, possible facial hair, and possibly glasses. On Tuesday, he was seen wearing a black graphic T-shirt, a hat and glasses and was walking with a pug-like dog. On Wednesday, he was seen wearing a blue T-shirt, possible blue shorts, and running shoes, but was not walking the dog.

Police are adding extra patrols to the area including officers patrolling on bicycles.

Citizens with information about the suspect, including surveillance video, are asked to call APD Dispatch at 311, or may call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 561-STOP or can report online at AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com.
