ANCHORAGE, Alaska Mat Su Borough School Superintendent Monica Goyette will be leaving her current position at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
The Mat Su Borough School Board voted 6-to-1 Wednesday night, after an executive session, to approved an amendment to Goyette's contract. The provision says "Dr. Goyette will be employed by the District as a Large Elementary School Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. " The location, the document said, will be determined by the superintendent of instruction.
The contract amendment also said Goyette and the Mat Su School Board entered intro the agreement voluntarily. No specific reasons for her departure were listed.
Goyette's bio on the Mat Su School District website said she became superintendent in April, 2017. She's been an education in Alaska since 1998, and prior to becoming superintendent, Goyette worked as a counselor, teacher, school principal, executive director and assistant superintendent of instruction.
