At Mat-Su Outdoorsman Show, enthusiasts get a jump start on summer plans

WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) - For 14 years, Tony Russ has put on the Mat-Su Outdoorsman Show at the Menard Sports Center in Wasilla. This year, he brought in more than 80 vendors, with booths where visitors could find everything from camping supplies and hunting gear to fishing charters and leather work.

According to Russ, the event has grown significantly since it's inception in 2006. He doesn't want it to get so big, however, that it loses it's "family friendly" atmosphere.

"I don't really need to make my living off this show," he said. "It's more of a communal thing in a way."

On average, the event sees around 5000 people make their rounds over 3 days. You can find more information here.
