Memorial Day Weekend: Honoring fallen veterans
Over a thousand crosses and American flags filled Anchorage Memorial Park and Angelus Memorial Park over Memorial Day weekend.
Brett Spencer, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Commander in 1685 says many of the graves are unmarked and aging.
VFW Post 168, cleaned up and placed American flags next to graves to show respect to the ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
"Take a few minutes to really commemorate the loss and the sacrifice they made for their country," said Spencer.
Next to the American flags, the American Legion Auxiliary placed over a 1,000 crosses decorated with poppies at Anchorage Memorial Park.
