Anchorage School District

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Anchorage Police say a Wendler Middle School student was arrested after apparently making a verbal threat.

Police say on Wednesday towards the end of the school day, they received a call from staff at the school saying a student threatened to “shoot up the school.”

School Resource Officers (SRO) were notified and immediately began to investigate.

Through the investigation, school staff and an SRO were able to identify the student and located him.

He was questioned and arrested.

Charges have been forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

This is the second time in the past 30 days a juvenile was arrested and faces charges after being suspected of making threats at Wendler Middle School.

In August, a student was arrested after a written threat was found in a school bathroom.
