EAGLE, Alaska (KTUU) - Two Rivers musher Allen Moore continues to lead the 2018 Yukon Quest, arriving at the Eagle Checkpoint at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday.
When Moore checked into Eagle, he also brought news that 2017 Yukon Quest Champion Matt Hall had frostbitten fingers after mushing through sub-zero temperatures on the Yukon River.
Hall himself reached the Eagle checkpoint shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, with a large hometown crowd greeting his team upon arrival.
Paige Drobny was the second musher into Eagle, arriving at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. All mushers have to serve a 4-hour layover at the Eagle checkpoint.
Anchorage-based musher Christine Roalofs became the fifth musher to scratch from the race, doing so at the Circle Checkpoint. Yukon Quest said she made the decision out of concern for her ability to care for her team due to personal injury.
