ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - While under mostly sunny skies Monday Anchorage warms into the mid 70's.
High pressure allowing for warm temperatures and dry conditions; will allow some smoke/haze to thicken during the early morning hours (early Monday) as well as Monday night into Tuesday morning from the northern Kenai Peninsula through the southern Susitna Valley as airflow pushes in from out of the southwest. Otherwise, the main forecast challenges were temperatures and precipitation potential. Temperatures on Monday should be a little bit warmer than expected based on dry humidity levels and warmer air in the upper atmosphere. Increasing mid-level and high-level cloud cover timing will play more of a role for today (Monday), as will wind direction and speed regarding the high temperatures.
Mostly sunny in Anchorage on Monday while we warm up to 75 degrees. Monday night we drop down to 61 degrees while under mostly clear skies becoming mostly cloudy in the evening as winds pick up to 15 mph out of the southeast after Midnight.
Mostly cloudy on Tuesday while we see a high of 70 degrees. Tuesday night we drop down to 59 degrees while under cloudy skies.
Looking ahead, Anchorage will be mostly cloudy on Wednesday with a high of 72 degrees.
