Musher Magnus Kaltenborn claims Red Lantern award, ending Iditarod XLVI

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) After 12 days, 20 hours, 13 minutes and 14 seconds, Iditarod XLVI has officially ended.

This year’s final musher to cross the finish line into Nome is Magnus Kaltenborn, bib No. 6 of Yukon Territory, Canada. Kaltenborn, a Veteran Iditarod musher arrived in Nome at 11:13 a.m.

According to a release sent Saturday morning, Kaltenborn finished the race with 13 dogs in harness.

Iditarod officials say the Red Lantern award, which is given out annually is a symbol of perseverance for the race.
