Mushers heading toward Skwentna as two systems could bring snow

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The official start of the Iditarod in Willow Sunday afternoon occurred under sunny skies; many mushers will make it to Skwentna by Sunday night.

Clouds will move in this evening and temperatures will drop to near 15F degrees overnight. Highs on Monday will reach the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. As the teams continue toward Farewell, they have about a 50 percent chance of seeing snow.

Two different areas of low pressure are expected to move across the Iditarod trail over the next week making snow likely on Tuesday and Thursday.
