Nome man missing after falling overboard from fishing vessel

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — A 56-year-old Nome man is missing after falling overboard from a fishing vessel in waters off of Nome on Friday according to Alaska State Troopers.

Anthony Shelp, 56, was reported missing to Alaska State Troopers after falling overboard while on a fishing vessel with family members on Friday.

According to AST, Shelp's family members attempted to pull him back into the vessel but were unable to.

U.S. Coast Guard crews joined in the search effort by boat and helicopter but were unable to find any sign of Shelp.

AST says alcohol is a reported factor in the incident.
