ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Assembly will be holding work sessions and a public hearing on two ordinances regarding on-site marijuana consumption throughout the rest of May.
One ordinance would make technical corrections to existing city code allowing consumption of edible marijuana products at licensed, freestanding marijuana retail stores that have a municipal endorsement.
A second ordinance looks to establish land use regulations for on-site consumption of marijuana endorsements associated with a Marijuana Retail Sales Establishment.
The assembly's first action will be a work session this Friday. The work session is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Assembly Conference Room at City Hall.
On Wednesday, May 15, the Federation of Community Councils delegates are meeting at the Community Councils Center to discuss the topic. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at 1057 W. Fireweed Lane.
The assembly will hold a second work session Friday, May 17 to continue gathering information on the proposed ordinances. The meeting will also be at 2 p.m. at City Hall.
The assembly will hold a public hearing at its regular Assembly Meeting on Tuesday, May 21 at the Z. J. Loussac Library. People wishing to speak will be allotted three minutes to testify.
