MONTANA CREEK, Alaska (KTUU & AP) - Update Monday, Dec. 11:
Alaska State Troopers have released the name of a woman killed in a Parks Highway head-on crash near Talkeetna.

Troopers say 39-year-old Margaret Reynolds, a passenger, died Thursday in a crash near Mile 97 about a mile south of the turnoff to Talkeetna Spur Road.

Troopers say freezing rain had made roads icy.

One vehicle was driving north when the driver lost control, crossed into on-coming traffic and struck the second vehicle head-on.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital.

Original Story Thursday, Dec. 7:
A two-vehicle crash near Montana Creek has left one person dead. Two other people were taken to the hospital. Alaska State Troopers said the crash took place around one p.m., closing the Parks Highway for hours.

Megan Peters, a spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers, could not confirm the extent of the injuries from the crash. Peters said the Department of Transportation was going to lay extra sand in the area of the crash as the highway had been "extremely slick."

The names of the people involved in the crash will not be released until family has been notified.
