A semi truck clipped the Hiland Road overpass on the Glenn Highway Monday afternoon, but DOT officials say there is no threat to safety from the strike.

Shannon McCarthy, spokesperson for DOT, says there’s a small chunk missing from the overpass, but that bridge inspectors found it was only minor damage.

Anchorage Police were called at 4:45 p.m. with a report that a truck hit the overpass in the outbound lanes, and continued driving.

Anchorage Police and DOT are trying to find out who was driving the truck.

DOT says there are no lane closures due to the bridge strike, and there’s no indication so far that traffic is backed up.

Hiland Road is on the Anchorage side of the Eagle River bridge.
