Ostrander hopes third time's the charm in Austin

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Kenai’s Allie Ostrander received her Kinesiology degree this May from Bosie State, but she’ll be tested in Austin this week as she looks to become the first woman in NCAA history to win three consecutive 3,000-meter steeplechase national titles.

This week at the NCAA outdoor national championships Ostrander begins with the steeplechase on Thursday and is expected to qualify for finals Saturday, along with running in the 5,000-meter final.

She’s been nothing short of perfect this year at Boise State, graduating with a 4.0 grade point average, claiming the 5,000 meters title at the Mountain West Championships, then running a national-best 9:40.05 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Regionals.

The races will be broadcast on ESPNU. Click here to see the NCAA's broadcast schedule.
