ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Polls open early Tuesday morning for the nationwide midterm election, but here in Alaska, state elections officials say tens of thousands have already voted.

According to the Alaska Division of Elections page, over 62,000 people have voted their ballots and returned them.

That number is a total combining mail-in ballots, online, fax, early vote, in-person, and special needs votes. A full break-down of these figures can be found online at the DOE website.

According to the state website, those numbers are as-of Nov. 5, the day before polls opened across the state for traditional day-of voters to cast their ballots.

Polls open at 7 a.m. for traditional polling place voting. A full list of those polling place locations can be found online with the Division of Elections.

KTUU will be covering the results of today's election all day on KTUU.com, as well as live on Channel 2 at 10 p.m. once more votes roll in.
