ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Authorities have released photos and surveillance video of two suspects who are thought to have burglarized a restaurant in midtown Anchorage fleeing the scene after fire broke out.
Photos issued by police of those suspected in burglarizing Yakitori Sushi.
"As the suspects were fleeing, it appears that the hand of one of the suspects was on fire," APD said in a Facebook post with the video. "The suspect removes his glove, which is on fire, tosses it and then both suspects flee through a fence door."
The case, called an arson investigation by the Anchorage Police Department, revolves around the burglarizing and subsequent burning of Yakitori Sushi on Tudor Road.
APD says that both suspects are believed to have been injured as a result of the fire.
"Detectives need the public’s help in identifying and/or locating two suspects in this investigation," APD said in a statement Wednesday.
Initially, photos of the suspects were posted by Yakitori Sushi's Facebook page, but that post was later taken down. APD did not confirm if those photos shared by the restaurant were indeed suspects in the case, until today.
"We do know that this morning's fire, there was a break-in to that particular business and to a business next door," Anchorage Fire Marshal Cleo Hill said Monday afternoon. "Based on the evidence, we believe it (the sushi restaurant fire) was intentionally set."
The Yakitori arson case marks the second arson update on Wednesday. Earlier in the morning, APD also said the Marriott Hotel fire last year was arson, and released a video of people of interest.
