Kaiser gets hero's welcome from hometown crowd in Bethel

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Iditarod champion Peter Kaiser returned to his hometown of Bethel Monday night to a crowd of supporters and a firetruck escort. Bethel Airport fire trucks greeted Kaiser as he walked off the plane and onto the Tarmac, and a gathered crowd with signs and drums erupted to cheers when Kaiser walked through the doors of the terminal.

In a video provided by KaiserRacing.com, Kaiser was welcomed at the airport, and with supporters lining the streets on his route home with signs.

Kaiser addressed the gathered crowd standing atop the airport’s single baggage claim.“It’s been just an amazing experience to bring such positive energy back to the community,” Kaiser said. “I can’t even put it into words, this has been one of the greatest weeks of my life and to share it with so many awesome people and see so many happy faces is just amazing. So thank you for coming out, I really appreciate it.”
