Police arrest alleged coffee store burglar in downtown Juneau

JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - A man is in custody for a robbery police say cost a local coffee store upwards of $750 in a smash-and-grab early morning break-in.

According to the Juneau Police Department, the Grind coffee shop was burglarized on the morning of May 6. The following morning, employees reported the robbery to police, and soon after, Joseph Yaletchko, 47, of Juneau, was in custody for allegedly committing the crime.

The list of merchandise and equipment stolen from the coffee shop included an iPad, clothing, food, and other property. JPD said the value was around $750.

The arrest was made based on video surveillance footage and a connecting investigation. Yaletchko was picked up while walking in the downtown area, and arrested for burglary and theft. He was held without bail.
