Police have arrested a 12-year-old boy in connection with Chester Creek area homicide.

The deceased victim has been identified as 18-year-old Thomas Williams.

The juvenile suspect was transported to McLaughlin Youth Center. Charges have been forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The person of interest, LaShawna Nettles, was questioned by detectives and released.

Original Story:

Police have a suspect in custody as well as a person of interest that they named earlier Tuesday in a weekend homicide. Police say both are being questioned by detectives.

APD had earlier asked for help from the public in locating LaShawna Nettles in relation to a shooting on Sunday evening that left one 18-year-old dead and another injured.

Police said that they believe “she has information about this investigation" and are currently questioning her and the suspect.

The shooting happened Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m. On Monday, police said the incident started as an “altercation between a group of juveniles,” that moved from near the Sullivan Arena to the woods near Chester Creek.
