JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - Police say a suspected burglary Saturday night led to thousands of dollars in damages at a middle school.

Police say 34-year-old Shawn Beaird was located inside the Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. “Investigation showed that Beaird had forcibly entered the school, damaged property inside the school which is estimated to be valued at about $4,500, and stolen a small amount of cash,” police wrote in a release Sunday night.

Police say Beaird is facing multiple charges including, theft, burglary and violating conditions of release. JPD said Beaird had been on release from jail for charges connected to a different burglary in January.
