ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - On Monday, at 1:09 p.m., Anchorage police responded to a "physical disturbance regarding bear spray and a baseball bat," says APD spokesperson Renee Oistad.
According to the police report, a male and female arrived at an apartment, along the 600-block of West 36th Avenue, in order to collect their belongings; however, after an audible argument broke out between the two, the homeowner told them to "take it outside."
Soon after, according to the report, the female returned inside to alert the homeowner that the male assaulted her.
Police say that when the homeowner and female returned outside together, the male threatened them with the baseball bat he was holding. According to the report, the homeowner then sprayed the male with bear spray.
While people were detained during the initial investigation, "police were not able to develop probable cause to affect an arrest," says Oistad. According to the report, police spoke with all parties involved and multiple witnesses.
Police did arrest and remand Bethany Mae McKeel, 30, on an unrelated outstanding warrant. According to Oistad, McKeel just so happened to be present, during the incident.
