Don't open the freezer when you get home; power outage impacts 1,000+ on Anchorage Hillside

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Chugach Electric staff confirmed to KTUU Tuesday afternoon that about 1,400 people are without power on the Hillside and likely will be until about 2 o'clock in the morning.

Julie Hasquet says the outage stretches from the Seward Highway to Elmore Road and runs from Huffman to DeArmoun. South High was also effected.

Hasquet added that crews are focused on working as quickly and safely as possible to get power restored. Once that priority has been seen to, they'll worry about how a pole came to be burned and broken in half.

Hasquet asked that customers follow the co-op's Facebook for the latest updates.
