ANCHORAGE, (KTUU) - The National Transportation Safety Board released the Preliminary report for the deadly plane crash near Johnstone Bay Southeast of Seward.
Three people died in the crash involving an Helio Courier H-250.
They were identified as Mike and Traci Timmer , from Michigan, and pilot Kem Sibbitt.
The NTSB report says Sibbitt volunteered to pick up the couple after they wanted to return to Seward early from a trip to Johnstone Bay.
But the air taxi company that was supposed to get them still had wheel-skis on and wasn't able to get them.
That’s when Sibbitt volunteered to pick them up using his personally owned plane.
Alaska State Troopers say the crash happened around 6 p.m. on June 21.
Online property records show that Mike Timmer purchased a 4.68-acre plat on Little Johnstone Lake in 2017.
