Job training program helps interns overcome obstacles
Six interns at Providence Hospital are overcoming obstacles through the Project Search program.
Project Search is a year-long internship that helps people with disabilities gain work experience in entry-level positions.
Providence Hospital has partnered with the Anchorage School District since 2011, giving interns job training.
"The reason why they like me is because I'm a good listener, a hard worker and have a good attitude," said Project Search Intern Pati Maia.
Instructor Beth Talcott said some interns find permanent employment at Providence Hospital.
"Not only are they getting the work experience, but they are learning skills. That makes them successful no matter where they go," Talcott said.
