Rain expected for Anchorage kids, parents on first day of school
It's that exciting first-day-back for kids on Monday, but what can they expect for their school day weather forecast? KTUU meteorologist Howie Gordon says rain is coming.
The early morning forecast includes mist and fog, but rain will hold off until 9 or 10 a.m. this morning, when most kids are already safely inside their classrooms.
However, the early precipitation is expected to transition to rain after that, and is expected to become prevalent later on in the day, extending to when kids will be returning home.
So while kids won't be deluged at the bus stops this morning, parents will want to equip them properly for the ride home with rain gear.
Skies will stay cloudy with temperatures reading a high of 62 degrees and a low of 56 in Anchorage with the likelihood of showers well over 60 percent. The same for this evening with showers increasing.
