ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Anchorage mayoral candidate Rebecca Logan has conceded to incumbent Ethan Berkowitz, according to a post on her campaign's Facebook page.

"The voters have made their choice and tonight I called the mayor to congratulate him on his reelection," the post states. "I ran for mayor because our city faces serious problems with unemployment, crime and taxes, and although our visions for tackling these problems differ, I wish him the best in his second term."

Berkowitz Campaign Manager Ian Laing said Thursday that the conversation between Berkowitz and Logan was "congenial."

"The turnout in particular reflects well on Anchorage," Laing said. "People are excited and want to keep this city moving forward.

"This is a great city," he said, "and the mayor is honored to be able to serve all Anchorage residents for another three years."

As of Thursday night, Berkowitz led the 2018 mayoral race with 38,456 votes to the 25,490 ballots submitted in favor of Logan. Berkowitz is seeking his second straight term as Mayor of Anchorage.

Logan's camp could not be reached for comment.
