ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Recall Dunleavy Campaign says it has collected 36,731 signatures with 11 days of signature-gathering remaining.
That puts it well above the approximately 28,500 signatures they need to reach the first threshold for a recall campaign, though the Division of Elections will need to verify the signatures, potentially eliminating some.
The campaign says that it collected signatures of about 10 percent of the St. Lawrence Island community of Savoonga's residents.
Once the signatures are verified and if the first threshold is met, the group must then try to gather 71,252 signatures, or 25 percent of the state.
The group plans to collect signatures until Sept. 2.
