A record number of participants signed up for the 2019 Turkey Trot. 2,191 participants showed up on a rainy Thursday morning, breaking the 2015 record.

The race had already raised $11,000 for the Food Bank of Alaska at the time of the writing of this article.

$8,200 of that $11,000 was specifically donated by participants. Skinny Raven, who organize the event, donated $1,000 as well.

Daniel Bausch is your 2019 winner, repeating his title from last year, finishing with a time of 15 minutes and 34 seconds. Payton Smith is your top women's finisher, with a time of 19 minutes and 3 seconds.

"It's great to be back," Bausch said. He's back for Thanksgiving from his freshman year at Utah State. "I missed Anchorage and my friends and family."

All the participants said they were thankful to be here.

"I love the Turkey Trot," Ivan Cuevas said with a grin. "I like to run, I like the atmosphere, I like to see all the people out here. And everyone looks pretty happy."

Many participants dressed in Thanksgiving-themed costume for the annual event.
