Record high Sunday, warm temperatures continue

Anchorage saw a record high temperature on Sunday hitting 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The previous record for June 23 was 75 degrees in 1974. The last time the official temperature in Anchorage hit 76 degrees was July 7, 2018.

Warm temperatures and dry conditions are expected to continue through the week with highs near 70 degrees at the beginning of the week and in the mid to upper 70s toward Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in the Mat-Su Valleys are likely to warm into the mid to low 80s by the end of the week.

The Kenai Peninsula will remain hot and dry as well with temperatures forecast to warm to near 80 degrees near Soldotna by the end of the week.
