Roadtrippin': Developing cultural tourism in the Haida community of Kasaan

KASAAN, Alaska (KTUU) - Village leaders of a small Prince of Wales Island community are developing a cultural tourism industry to diversify their economy.

According to president of the Organized Village of Kasaan Fred Olsen, nearly 20 small cruise ships arrived in 2016, with more tourists visiting the the historically Haida community’s recently remodeled Whale House, as well as their Totems Historic District and Carving Shed.
