UPDATE: Suspect in custody after SWAT teams brought in following Anchorage stabbing incident

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The suspect in Saturday's domestic stabbing incident that resulted in the deployment of SWAT teams has been taken into custody, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

The man has been identified as 54-year-old Mark Brooks Sr., who faces multiple charges including Assault II and Resisting Arrest.

Anchorage police and SWAT teams were on scene near the 8000 block of Nadine St. early Sunday, according to a Nixle sent out overnight by the department.

Police said that shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, they were called to a residence in the area following reports of an altercation and stabbing inside a home. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

A man reportedly stabbed another man in his family. The victim was taken to an area hospital; the other man was refusing to leave the home, according to APD, which is why SWAT crews were brought in.

At the time of publication, the man remained inside his home, and police were asking that people avoid Nadine St. near 80th Ave.

Police also warned of possible gas deployment and other methods that may disturb nearby residents.
