ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Salvation Army will be giving thousands of toys and meals during the Anchorage Neighborhood Gift program at ChangePoint Church on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The doors will open at noon and will close at 7 p.m.

This will be the first time ChangePoint Church will be hosting the event.

"We are excited because we are prepping this place for our gift distribution for thousands of families in the Anchorage Bowl area who desperately need help this holiday season," said Major John Brackenbury, divisional commander.

This is the first time the Salvation Army's Anchorage Neighbourhood Gift program has been at Changepoint Church.

Those in need can pick up toys and a box of food so that way everyone has a holiday meal and something to unwrap this Christmas.

According to the Salvation Army's website, anyone 18 and older must have the following to pick up food and gifts:

-A photo ID
-Documentation of children in your household (Ex. birth certificate, PFD Application, public assistance or school print out/electronic copy showing child and parent guardian's name)
-Proof of address (photo ID/driver's license or mail with name and address). We do accept electronic copies of documentation of children in your household.

Recipients are expected to attend GIFT on the days their zipcode is listed:
