ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Slovenia erased a two-goal deficit Wednesday, forcing a 3-2 win in overtime against the United States during the Olympic ice hockey preliminary plays.

UAA Alum Luka Vidmar played against the United States and gave them the first power play of the night.

Vidmar's penalty came when a hockey stick broke during a tense moment as the US pressured the defending Slovenia.

The U.S would score in the first and second periods but the tides turned when the former Seawolf gave an assist to Gregorc Blaz during the third period.

Slovenia would tie the game that same period and come out with a victory during the first few minutes of overtime play.
