ANCHORAGE, (KTUU) - This weekend, the U.S. Forest Service will close Snug Harbor Road in Cooper Landing to the public at milepost 5.5, which is just before the ‘Waikiki Beach’ access.
The closure is from June 15-16th to allow construction of a new culvert crossing.
Additionally, The U.S. Forest Service says from June 17 to July 16, if you want to get beyond milepost 5.5, you'll have to go through a temporary construction detour and it may be impassable to vehicles pulling trailers and low-clearance vehicles.
The new crossing will allow fish, including spawning salmon and other aquatic organisms to cross under Snug Harbor Road to access habitat upstream of the road.
