ANCHORAGE (KTUU) In a packed classroom at Grace Christian School, students worked at several stations during their morning routine. At one particular table, a group of kindergartners had a special visitor, their 6th grade buddy.
Every 6th grader at GCS is paired with a kindergartner for the entire school year. Principal Sami Graham said she implemented it because it helps the older kids with leadership and the younger ones develop relationships.
"If you're a good role model you can teach them to grow up and be a good role model as well," said 6th grader Grayson Magestro.
"He has a super fun attitude and so we like to play around," added Maddy Way talking about her buddy Ziggy.
Grace Christian School has 44 6th grade students and 32 kindergartners, so some have two buddies.
