ANCHORAGE (KTUU)- Super Bowl fans are not the only ones excited for the big game. Some Anchorage businesses reported a boost in sales on Super Bowl Sunday.
Erish Durano, owner of Monster Pizza said Super Bowl sales help during the slower winter months. "It is February and that is the slowest month for us," Durano said.
The Anchorage Alehouse manager Selena Hraallbic, said the restaurant is mostly filled with regulars during football season.
According to Nielsen, the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl in 2017, consumers spent:
-- $1.3 billion on beer & cider
-- $979 million on soft drinks
-- $100 million on meat snacks
-- $278 million on potato chips
-- $224 million on tortilla chips
-- $80 million on chicken wings
-- $62 million on avocados
