Suspect charged with first degree murder in Crooked Creek death

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Alaska State Troopers arrested a 30-year-old Crooked Creek man and charged him with first degree murder in connection to the death of a 26-year-old man, also from Crooked Creek, on Saturday.

According to AST, Aniak-based Troopers received a report of a death in Crooked Creek shortly before 6:15 a.m. Saturday.

Reports indicated that 30-year-old Ronald Waskey and 26-year-old Evan Waskey, both of Crooked Creek, were involved in "an altercation" which led to the death of Evan Waskey.

AST investigators from Bethel and Aniak responded to Crooked Creek and subsequently arrested Ronald Waskey on a charge of murder in the first degree.

Evan Waskey's family has been notified.

Ronald Waskey is in custody at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.
