Suspect pleads 'not guilty' to murder charges in wife's shooting death

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - On Wednesday, Chue Yang was indicted on charges of first and second degree murder for killing his wife at their home.

The incident occurred on Nov. 3, when police responded to a call from family who told them they saw Yang walking the street covered in blood.

Yang claimed he was showing his wife, Nancy Xiong, how to use a handgun when he accidentally shot her.

On Friday, Yang plead not guilty to all charges. His bail is set at $200,000 and faces 99 years in prison for each of the two counts of murder.

A discovery hearing will take place on January 16th, trial scheduling will occur on January 30th.
