Swan Lake Fire update: Cooper Landing Remains in “SET” Status

Swan Lake Fire from the Sterling Highway, Saturday, Aug. 17 (From Alaska Interagency Coordination Center)

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Firefighters on the ground Tuesday morning determined that the Swan Lake Fire advanced Monday night about 200 yards in the Resurrection Trail area.

The Trout Lake Cabins and cabins north remain unaffected.

At last check, the fire is 20% contained and over 150,000 acres. The fire perimeter in this area will be assessed Tuesday. Unburned pockets within this area are expected to burn Tuesday.

Cooper Landing remains in a SET status due to fire activity. All residents should be SET to evacuate if the situation warrants. If you feel uncomfortable or need additional time, consider leaving before an evacuation notice.

The Sterling neighborhoods east of Feuding Lane and east of Adkins Road remain in READY status. A READY notification is NOT a notice to leave. This notification means that you must be ready for potential evacuation if there is a fire in your area

Night operations patrolling the Sterling Highway and Skilak Road will continue.
