Original Story:

Multiple vehicle collisions are being reported outbound on the Glenn Highway, Thursday afternoon.

The Anchorage Police Department first sent out a community alert, at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Currently, between the north and south Birchwood exits, APD reports that an 18-wheeler is on its side, and "numerous other vehicles" are in the ditch.

"We currently have two independent crash scenes between the Birchwoods," says Renee Oistad, spokesperson with APD. "One involved a semi truck and at least one other vehicle.... The second scene involved three vehicles."

Moreover, Oistad states that there were no injuries in any of the crashes. And tow trucks have also been called for all of the vehicles.

Along the Glenn Highway, beginning around Bragaw Street, APD reports whiteout conditions. They ask that the public use headlights and drive with caution.
