Troopers lead successful search and rescue operation near Willow

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a snowmachiner who may have fallen through the ice near Red Shirt Lake in Willow.

AST coordinated efforts for the search. An Alaska Wildlife Trooper helicopter was nearby and responded to assist.

Within an hour, the 62-year-old believed missing was spotted from the air and found to be in good health.

Willow and Caswell Lakes Fire and Rescue were assembled to deploy a ground search when he was located.
