ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The UAA volleyball team is headed back to the NCAA Div. II tournament after not qualifying last season. It will be the team's ninth trip to the tournament in 11 years.
The Seawolves enter the NCAA Div. II West Regional Championships as the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seed UC San Diego Thursday, Dec. 5, in San Bernardino, Calif.
The two teams met in September, and UAA lost the match 3-1.
The Seawolves' head coach Chris Green was named GNAC Coach of the Year, along with first-team awards for Eve Stephens, Ellen Floyd and Vanessa Hayes.
Another great storyline this season was middle blocker Kayla McGlathery who was named GNAC honorable mention Tuesday.
McGlathery returned to play for the Seawolves after leaving the team in 2014 when she became a mother.
