WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) - A fire at Poppert Milling in Wasilla broke out after high winds reportedly fueled underground flames.

The fire was reported early Thursday morning and Mat-Sy Borough Fire Deputy Director Ken Barkley said the fire was contained, but due to the depth and high winds, will not be extinguished for several hours.

Crews are still on scene and working with heavy equipment to reach the deep fire which is difficult to reach on the Poppert Milling property.

At this time there are no reports of further threats to any structures.

This is a developing story and will be updated..
